Riot is a meticulously crafted novel, rich with historical details, depicting the unrest and turmoil that had taken place in America, during the 1960’s.
While U.S. soldiers were fighting in Vietnam, violence, racism, and anti-war demonstrations were plaguing American streets.
To dodge the draft, Steve signed up for full-time college. It was while he was attending Midway College in Chicago that two women crossed his path and changed his life. The first person was Emma, an older woman, and radical organizer. The second most influential woman was Cat, a black student who would become the love of his life. Being involved in an interracial relationship during the 1960’s, was only the first of several obstacles that the two would have to overcome.
Riot is a well-written and well-researched novel.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
