Promises kept is an exciting crime-thriller, Novella.

Morgan and her older sister Rachel were street-smart; they had to be. Their mother had an awful knack of bringing abusive men into their lives. As a result, Morgan and Rachel were always changing residences, as well as their names. Lying, stealing, and conning people became an everyday occurrence for them. The two girls had changed their identities so often that they began calling one another big sis, and little sis, so that they had a consistent name for each other. Their mother tried to convince them that Marc was Mr. Right. Morgan knew, however, that he wasn’t. And, unfortunately, she was right. When Marc entered their world, life spiraled downward until Morgan ended up alone on the streets. Although Morgan was downtrodden she realized a new purpose in her life; she was determined to see Marc pay for his crimes.

As a rookie cop, having an experienced officer by your side was crucial. Lisa Benz knew that she wanted Jefferson as her senior partner. So on graduation day when she was partnered with him, she couldn’t have been happier. Lisa was pegged as the rookie cop who would kill in her first year. And, they were right. Did she feel guilty? Not a bit, some people Lisa believed, just needed killing. She once promised a little girl who had watched a man abuse her mother and sister that she’d take care of him for her. And Lisa did. The world was better off without him.

Promises Kept is a captivating story, with several surprising twists. I found the characters to be developed, the dialog realistic and the plot riveting.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
