While You Were Sleeping is a riveting psychological crime thriller. The book captured my attention from the very beginning and kept it until the end.

Tara was shocked when she woke up naked, alongside her neighbor. She had no recollection of climbing into his bed. How could she have done this to her husband? Her neighbor, Lee, was just a friend, a dead friend now, by the looks of his bloodied body, and vacant stare. Tara knew that her responsibility was to call the police, but she was petrified of the consequences. Feeling herself becoming hysterical, Tara threw on her clothes and ran from the house.

Although Tara couldn’t remember anything beyond drinking wine and laughing in her neighbor’s living room, she knew that she couldn’t have killed Lee. Lee was her best friend’s husband. Why would she murder someone she liked? Besides, she didn’t have even a spot of blood on her. But, if Tara didn’t stab Lee to death, then who did? Was the killer watching her now? And why did he spare her, her life?

The author kept me engrossed by leading me through mazes of clues, lies, and half-truths. This cleverly written whodunit murder mystery is so intricate, and well-plotted, that I had no idea who the killer was, until the very end. Since the novel is told from Tara’s point of view, I felt Tara’s guilt, confusion, and paralyzing fear. I found While You Were Sleeping to be suspenseful, absorbing and utterly entertaining. I loved it.

I received this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.
