Don’t Miss Jamie Beck’s Newest, Outstanding Novel-When You Knew-Coming 6/26/18
When You Knew is a superbly-written, and highly emotional, novel. The author transported me into her story, captured my heart, and kept me turning the pages until the very end. I’ve read all three books in this series and I loved them all. When You Knew, however, I think is my favorite. If there are more books in this series, I’ll be reading them.
Gentry Cabot felt like the black sheep of the family, the underachiever, the single mother who couldn’t juggle work and her infant son effectively. Ian the man she hired to help her, was the only person who truly believed in her and felt that she was competent.
Ian Crawford was broke. He had spent money that he hadn’t planned on spending, to fly home and collect his things from his ex-fiancee’s house. He didn’t blame her for breaking up with him; he wasn’t good boyfriend material, considering that he was never home. Ian was a humanitarian, and most of his work took him away to foreign countries, like Haiti.
When Gentry offered Ian a great salary and a place to stay in exchange for watching her colicky son, he took it. What he didn’t expect was to develop feelings for Gentry and her son Cole. So when the father of Cole, entered the picture, Ian knew that it was time to leave. He just didn’t think it would hurt so much.
I was completely invested in Gentry and Ian’s lives. I welled up more than once reading this book. To say, that I was engrossed in the story is an understatement. I couldn’t put the book down. It’s a story about being true to oneself, letting go of other people’s expectations, and allowing yourself to be vulnerable again. I found this book to be thought-provoking, heart-wrenching, touching and humorous. I loved it and highly recommend giving it a read. This book gets five shining stars from me!
