little orphan girl:::.jpg 850..jpgNew Novel By Sandy Taylor–The Little Orphan Girl– Coming 9/24/18

The Little Orphan Girl is a poignant, well-written, and touching story.

The novel takes place in Cork county, Ireland during the early 1900s. Six-year-old, Cissy Ryan, was leaving the only home, she’s ever known, the Workhouse. The woman pulling Cissy’s hand was claiming to be her mammy, but Cissy had never met her before.

Cissy soon discovered that living in her mammy’s cottage wasn’t so bad. She found herself developing a crush on Colm Doyle, the milk delivery boy. Colm became one of her closest friends and the last person she wanted to hurt.

When Cissy was a teenager, she took a job as a servant for a wealthy family. Several people warned Cissy against the family’s son, Master Peter. He was handsome, charismatic, and privileged. Cissy had no business pining for him. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t stop her heart from falling for him. Living in that home would change her life forever. By the time she left, she’d wish that she never met the charming devil, Master Peter.

I loved that the author crafted her story with a lot of humor and the town’s dialect. I adored the characters, Cissy and Colm. I did find, however, that the dialogue was stilted at times. But, all and all, I loved the story. It’s well-written and thoroughly enjoyable.

Thank you, Bookouture and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy.
