New Dark Thriller by J. P. Delaney–Coming 7/24/18!

Believe Me, is a dark, creepy, compelling, and complex thriller.

Claire wants to make it as a New York City actress. But, apartments in New York are expensive. So Claire accepts a position, as a decoy, for divorce lawyers. Her job is to flirt with straying husbands, and then catch them, on tape, propositioning her for a hook-up. It wasn’t the best of situations, but it enabled her to hone in on her acting skills while getting paid.

Claire gets her big chance to prove herself as an up-and-coming NYC actress, in a play. She knows that there is an element of danger with accepting this position. It could even cost Claire her life. But, Claire is not about to miss her chance to shine as in actress on stage.

What Claire is unaware of, is just how convincing, a serial killer can be. And, what the killer doesn’t realize, is the level of expertise, Claire has achieved, as a manipulator, as well as an actress. She not only plays her character, Claire becomes her character.

Believe Me is an intense, dark, psychological thriller, with twists and surprises, that I never saw coming. Although I was confused, at times, while reading this book, everything tied-up nicely and became clear in the end.

The Chosen Ones by Carol Wyer–Review-4.5 stars #Bookouture #NetGalley

the chosen ones copy::.jpg 850.jpgDon’t Miss Carol Wyer’s Newest Fab. Crime-Thriller-The Chosen Ones–Out Now!

The Chosen Ones is a compelling, creepy and fast-paced police procedural crime-thriller.

Murders are beginning to pile up in Colton, England, and DI Robyn Carter and her team have been working overtime to link clues together. There’s a serial killer on the loose, and Robyn’s superior is threatening to pull her off the case. She’s stepping on toes, irritating influential people, and they’re breathing down her boss’s neck. Why is her superior hampering her investigation? Could he be corrupt?

The murders were all different; each one was as brutal as the one prior: a man hanging like a scarecrow, a screwdriver through the head, and a woman run over several times. Unfortunately, these were not the only deaths; there were more. Robyn knew that she was staring at the work of a cold, methodical serial killer. And if her boss were in any way involved with these killings, then she’d have to bring him down as well.

If you enjoy police procedurals, check-out The Chosen Ones. It’s a cleverly crafted thriller, with realistic characters, an intriguing plot, natural dialogue and lots of surprises. The only thing I didn’t care for was the mild cliff-hanger at the end. It only involves a minor subplot, but still, I like my readings to end with every loose thread tied up.

Don’t Miss This Intense New Psychological Thriller-Bring Me Back-Coming 6/19/18!

Broken hearts, guilty consciences, and haunting mind-games are the ingredients that make up this psychological thriller.

Layla and Ellen came from a toxic family unit where their abusive alcoholic father had ruled. Layla was the first to leave the homestead. She escaped to London where she found Finn and fell in love. Finn loved Layla with a passion, so much so, that it scared him; especially the night that she went missing.

Although Finn didn’t want to fall in love with Layla’s sister, Ellen, after Layla had disappeared, he did. It wasn’t the same kind of intense love, however, but it was enough. After Finn and Ellen’s engagement went public, Finn’s life began to fall apart. Someone was playing head-games with him, insinuating that after twelve years, Layla, was not only alive but trying to contact him.

The story really begins to twist and turn after Ellen finds a Russian doll, the same doll she believes, her sister had taken from her years ago. Ellen wonders what will happen to her relationship, with Finn, if Layla suddenly makes an appearance in their lives.

Bring Me Back is a true, mind-twisting, psychological thriller. Although this novel isn’t completely believable and dragged a bit in the middle, it was still, captivating and enjoyable. I read the book in two days. This is the first work that I’ve read by this author, but it won’t be the last.

Baby Teeth–Coming 7/17/18–A Fascinating and Shocking Novel.

Wow, Baby Teeth is one of the darkest, creepiest horror books that I’ve read in a long time. It was a fascinating story, in a shocking-horror-type of way. I couldn’t put the book down, and read it in one sitting.

By all outward appearances, Suzette and Alex had it all. They were financially comfortable, had a loving, passionate relationship, and a beautiful daughter.  But, appearances can be deceiving.

Seven-year-old Hanna was cunning. She knew how to get her way, whether she was at home, in school or just out with Suzette, her mother. Hanna was sweet and loving when she wanted to be. With her mother, however, Hanna was cold, calculating and manipulative. Hanna wanted her father for herself and was determined to do whatever was necessary to make that happen.

Suzette loved her daughter and wanted only the best for her. And, even though Hanna’s hostile behavior towards her, hurt, she showered Hanna with love. Suzette made mistakes along the way but sincerely tried to give Hanna a better childhood than she had for herself. Alex was oblivious to Hanna’s manipulations. He couldn’t believe that his sweet daughter was capable of the evil deeds being reported to him. Suzette’s life became a hellish power-struggle with her daughter, even dangerous, whenever her husband was not in sight.

Kudos to the author for creating such an unforgettable debut novel. Whether you like the book or not, it’s bound to stir up strong emotions. If you can handle reading about twisted minds, even in a child, then this book might be for you. I rated this book down from 5 stars to 4.5, because Hanna’s behavior to me, seemed too advanced for her age.

New Dark Thriller From Dean Koontz, Coming 5/8/18!

The Crooked Staircase is a dark, riveting and intense thriller, crafted with numerous twists and surprises. I was delighted to find that even though, I hadn’t read the first two books in the series, the plot was easy to follow.

Jane Hawk and her five-year-old son, Travis, were in grave danger of being caught, by corrupt government agents. These agents were known as Techno Arcadians. They were capturing and injecting the people on their list, with a mind-altering drug, which not only took away free-will but permanently changed their brain. The Arcadian’s goal was to accomplish World Utopia, through mind-control. Former FBI agent, Jane Hawk, lost her husband, because of these evil-doers, and she was ready to have her revenge. As much as it pained Jane to leave her son with Gavin and Jessie, it was better than giving the Arcadians a chance to kidnap him. But, what if these corrupt men were to find Gavin and Jessie, and therefore, Travis, before Jane could bring them down?

Like many readers, I’m not a fan of cliff-hangers. I like to know before starting a book if the story ends in one. Be warned. This book does. All and all, though, I found The Crooked Staircase to be an entertaining, dark, creepy, and fast-paced read.
