29 Seconds::.jpg 850.jpgDon’t Miss T.M. Logan’s Newest Outstanding Release–Coming 9/10/19!

Dr. Sarah Haywood was tired of being glossed over, for a permanent position, at the University. She’d put in long hours, established vital contacts, and consistently received excellent student surveys; yet a less deserving colleague was awarded her position. And, Sarah knew why. In fact, everyone in her circle, knew the reason, as well.

Professor Alan Hawthorne was untouchable. His money and charisma had the University lauding over him. Alan felt that he could exploit female colleagues, without consequences, and he did. Alan had Sarah in his sights. But, she wasn’t interested in performing favors for Alan to reach her goals. Sarah worked hard, to succeed, on her own, so that her accomplishments would speak for themselves. But, unfortunately, in the end, it meant nothing to the Professor. If Sarah weren’t willing to play his games, then she’d suffer the consequences. Without warning, the unthinkable happened to Sarah. A shady, but powerful man, offered to make her problem disappear. Sarah felt as if she was making a deal with the devil. The secretive, sly man, told her that there would be no traceable connection to her. But, could Sarah believe him? Dr. Haywood’s life was about to spin out of control. She just hoped that she’d be still standing in the end.

29 Seconds is a brilliantly crafted unputdownable psychological thriller.  This is the second book that I have read by this talented author, but it won’t be my last. Don’t miss reading this superbly written novel. Highly recommended.

Thank you, St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy. I loved it!

#Unspeakable by Elisabeth Naughton–Review–5 Stars–#NetGalley

Unspeakable:850.jpgNewest Romantic Thriller by Elisabeth Naughton–Unspeakable-Coming 11/20/18!

Although all of the children in the McClane family were adopted and had troubled pasts, Rusty was the only one who thought of himself as a black sheep. Rusty’s guilt over someone he loved tormented him daily. Unbeknownst to his family, Rusty was on a mission; spending nights in unsavory places, trying to ease his pain.

Legal Investigator, Harper Blake, could always tell when someone was hiding secrets. And bad boy, Rusty McClane, she knew, was hiding some dark ones. Harper was convinced that Rusty had something to do with the recent missing teenage girls.

Harper was a strong independent woman who knew how to take care of herself. Bad boys, however, had always been her weakness, and Rusty McClane was poking at her heart. He wasn’t the average bad boy, no Rusty, was a white knight, dressed in black, fighting to heal his soul. And, Harper couldn’t help but to find him irresistible.

Unspeakable is a dark, fast-paced, sexy romantic thriller. It’s well-crafted, with likable characters, natural dialogue, and twists, I never saw coming.

Thank you, Montlake Romance and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy.

Bio (from author’s page on Amazon)

Before topping multiple bestseller lists–including those of the New York Times, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal–award winning author Elisabeth Naughton taught middle school science. A voracious reader, she soon discovered she had a knack for creating stories with a chemistry of their own. The spark turned into a flame, and Elisabeth now writes full-time.

Though primarily known for her romantic suspense work, Elisabeth has penned over thirty novels and continues to write in multiple genres, including paranormal romance and contemporary romance. Her books have been translated into numerous languages and have earned several award nominations, including three prestigious RITA® nominations from Romance Writers of America. In 2017, REPRESSED, the first book in her Deadly Secrets series, won the RITA® for best romantic suspense.

Elisabeth’s work has been praised by the Chicago Tribune as being filled with “deadly intrigue, high adrenaline action, and scorchingly hot passion.” Kirkus calls her “a writer talented enough at weaving a yarn to get her readers ensnared in it.” When not dreaming up new stories, Elisabeth can be found spending time with her husband and three children in their western Oregon home, wrangling two cats, or chasing after one very rambunctious Dalmatian.

#Vanishing Girls by Lisa Regan–Review–4.5 stars

Vanishing Girls::.jpg 850.jpgDon’t Miss This Dark and Compelling Thriller!

Seventeen-year-old Isabelle went missing from Denton Pennsylvania. Although Detective Josie Quinn was currently suspended from her job, she couldn’t stay quiet. The investigation to find Isabelle was taking too long. And although the chief assured Josie that everything was being done to find the girl, Josie was not convinced. So Detective Josie Quinn started to dig, and the deeper she researched, the uglier and more complicated the case became.

Detective Quinn discovered that Isabelle was not the only teenager who had been abducted around Denton in the past few years. The Denton Police were dragging their feet and still considered Isabelle to be just a missing person. Detective Quinn knew better; these girls were not runaways; they were being kidnapped. She just hoped that they were still alive. The closer Detective Quinn came to the perpetrator, the more dangerous life became for her, and everyone, she cared about.

I love Detective Josie Quinn. She’s a no-nonsense kickass female detective. I never warmed up to any of the male characters in the book, except Noah, the loyal but less than macho, police officer. Vanishing Girls is a dark, gritty, and compelling crime thriller. Although some pieces of the book were a bit over-the-top to be believed, the story itself was riveting and memorable. Vanishing Girls stayed with me long after I finished the last page. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.

#Believe Me by J.P. Delaney–Review–4 stars #NetGalley

Believe Me::.:.:.jpg 850.jpg

New Dark Thriller by J. P. Delaney–Coming 7/24/18!

Believe Me, is a dark, creepy, compelling, and complex thriller.

 Claire wants to make it as a New York City actress. But, apartments in New York are expensive. So Claire accepts a position, as a decoy, for divorce lawyers. Her job is to flirt with straying husbands, and then catch them, on tape, propositioning her for a hook-up. It wasn’t the best of situations, but it enabled her to hone in on her acting skills while getting paid.

Claire gets her big chance to prove herself as an up-and-coming NYC actress, in a play. She knows that there is an element of danger with accepting this position. It could even cost Claire her life. But, Claire is not about to miss her chance to shine as in actress on stage.

What Claire is unaware of, is just how convincing, a serial killer can be. And, what the killer doesn’t realize, is the level of expertise, Claire has achieved, as a manipulator, as well as an actress. She not only plays her character, Claire becomes her character.

Believe Me is an intense, dark, psychological thriller, with twists and surprises, that I never saw coming. Although I was confused, at times, while reading this book, everything tied-up nicely and became clear in the end.

The Chosen Ones by Carol Wyer–Review-4.5 stars #Bookouture #NetGalley

the chosen ones copy::.jpg 850.jpgDon’t Miss Carol Wyer’s Newest Fab. Crime-Thriller-The Chosen Ones–Out Now!

The Chosen Ones is a compelling, creepy and fast-paced police procedural crime-thriller.

Murders are beginning to pile up in Colton, England, and DI Robyn Carter and her team have been working overtime to link clues together. There’s a serial killer on the loose, and Robyn’s superior is threatening to pull her off the case. She’s stepping on toes, irritating influential people, and they’re breathing down her boss’s neck. Why is her superior hampering her investigation? Could he be corrupt?

The murders were all different; each one was as brutal as the one prior: a man hanging like a scarecrow, a screwdriver through the head, and a woman run over several times. Unfortunately, these were not the only deaths; there were more. Robyn knew that she was staring at the work of a cold, methodical serial killer. And if her boss were in any way involved with these killings, then she’d have to bring him down as well.

If you enjoy police procedurals, check-out The Chosen Ones. It’s a cleverly crafted thriller, with realistic characters, an intriguing plot, natural dialogue and lots of surprises. The only thing I didn’t care for was the mild cliff-hanger at the end. It only involves a minor subplot, but still, I like my readings to end with every loose thread tied up.

Thank you, Bookouture and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy.

Don’t Miss This Intense New Psychological Thriller-Bring Me Back-Coming 6/19/18!

Broken hearts, guilty consciences, and haunting mind-games are the ingredients that make up this psychological thriller.

Layla and Ellen came from a toxic family unit where their abusive alcoholic father had ruled. Layla was the first to leave the homestead. She escaped to London where she found Finn and fell in love. Finn loved Layla with a passion, so much so, that it scared him; especially the night that she went missing.

Although Finn didn’t want to fall in love with Layla’s sister, Ellen, after Layla had disappeared, he did. It wasn’t the same kind of intense love, however, but it was enough. After Finn and Ellen’s engagement went public, Finn’s life began to fall apart. Someone was playing head-games with him, insinuating that after twelve years, Layla, was not only alive but trying to contact him.

The story really begins to twist and turn after Ellen finds a Russian doll, the same doll she believes, her sister had taken from her years ago. Ellen wonders what will happen to her relationship, with Finn, if Layla suddenly makes an appearance in their lives.

Bring Me Back is a true, mind-twisting, psychological thriller. Although this novel isn’t completely believable and dragged a bit in the middle, it was still, captivating and enjoyable. I read the book in two days. This is the first work that I’ve read by this author, but it won’t be the last.

Thank you, St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy.

Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage–Review-4.5 Stars

Baby Teeth::.jpg  850.jpg

Baby Teeth–Coming 7/17/18–A Fascinating and Shocking Novel.

Wow, Baby Teeth is one of the darkest, creepiest horror books that I’ve read in a long time. It was a fascinating story, in a shocking-horror-type of way. I couldn’t put the book down, and read it in one sitting.

 By all outward appearances, Suzette and Alex had it all. They were financially comfortable, had a loving, passionate relationship, and a beautiful daughter.  But, appearances can be deceiving.

Seven-year-old Hanna was cunning. She knew how to get her way, whether she was at home, in school or just out with Suzette, her mother. Hanna was sweet and loving when she wanted to be. With her mother, however, Hanna was cold, calculating and manipulative. Hanna wanted her father for herself and was determined to do whatever was necessary to make that happen.

Suzette loved her daughter and wanted only the best for her. And, even though Hanna’s hostile behavior towards her, hurt, she showered Hanna with love. Suzette made mistakes along the way but sincerely tried to give Hanna a better childhood than she had for herself. Alex was oblivious to Hanna’s manipulations. He couldn’t believe that his sweet daughter was capable of the evil deeds being reported to him. Suzette’s life became a hellish power-struggle with her daughter, even dangerous, whenever her husband was not in sight.

Kudos to the author for creating such an unforgettable debut novel. Whether you like the book or not, it’s bound to stir up strong emotions. If you can handle reading about twisted minds, even in a child, then this book might be for you. I rated this book down from 5 stars to 4.5, because Hanna’s behavior to me, seemed too advanced for her age.

Thank you, St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for my advanced review copy.
