New Start To An Exciting Series– Consumed– by J.R. Ward-Coming 10/2/18
Anne Ashburn was not the warm touchy-feely-type of person. She was a focused, strong-willed firefighter; determined to follow in her father’s footsteps. Anne was crushed, however, when she discovered that her dad was not the hero, she’d thought he was. And, her mother, was even more of a doormat than she’d thought.
Danny McGuire was the love of Anne’s life; not that she wanted him to know that, however. The two of them had a toxic, on again-off again, explosive relationship. Anne was angry and prickly most of the time, and Danny was drowning in guilt. If their relationship were ever to survive, they’d have to become vulnerable and trust one another; something neither of them were good at.
When a tragic accident occurred, Anne’s life was changed forever. She worked hard, though, at reinventing herself. She had become a fire investigator and an excellent one at that. Anne was never someone to back down on a challenge, even if it was dangerous. And, although she should have been, Anne was not afraid to cross ruthless and influential, evil individuals.
Wow, what a great start to a new series. J.R. Ward doesn’t shy away from describing gruesome scenes, and the horrific toll firefighting takes on a person, mentally, physically and emotionally. I’ll be looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Bio (from author’s page on Amazon)
J.R. Ward is the number one New York Times bestselling author of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series of vampire books. She is a winner of the prestigious Romance Writers of America RITA award for Best Paranormal Romance and is a multiple RITA nominee. A graduate of Smith College, she was a double major in History and Art History with a medieval concentration in both and she still longs at times for a return to those days sitting in dark lecture halls, looking at slides of old triptychs and reliquaries. Prior to becoming a full time writer, she was a corporate attorney, serving for many years as the Chief of Staff of one of Harvard Medical Schools premier teaching sites. Her idea of absolute heaven is a day filled with nothing but her computer, her dog and her coffee pot and the Brothers, of course.
