#The Good, The Bad, and The Duke by Janna MacGregor–Review–4.5 Stars-#NetGalley

the good the bad and the duke::.jpg 850.jpgNew Exciting Historical Fiction Romance–Coming 11/27/18!

The Good, The Bad, and The Duke is the fourth historical fiction romance in The Cavensham Heiresses Series.

Lady Daphne Hallworth felt invisible. Her family had left in their carriages for the Christmas holiday and left her behind. At first, Daphne was furious and hurt. But then she decided that it was a perfect opportunity for her to pursue her dream. She wanted to open a home for unwed mothers. But her brother, the head of the family, was against it. Well, as far as Lady Daphne was concerned, her days of being controlled were over. It was time for her to make her mark in the world.

Unfortunately, on the way to inquire about property, Lady Daphne was robbed. She didn’t care so much about the money; it was her diary that she was worried about. If it fell into the wrong hands, Lady Daphne would not only be humiliated and ruined; her family would be, as well. She chased the pint-size thief until he ran into a gentlemen’s gambling hall.

Lady Daphne had always had a crush on Paul Barstowe, Duke of Southart. But, her brother and Paul had had a falling out, and it was understood by her family that no one was to have anything to do with Paul. He had always been kind to Daphne though. She saw goodness where no one else did. So when Paul offered to help her, she accepted. The Duke of Southart was determined to change his soiled reputation. He was done with being selfish. He hoped that recovering and returning Lady Daphne’s diary would count towards restoring his reputation and mending a broken friendship.

I loved Paul Barstowe and Daphne Hallworth in this story and was glad to see them change and grow. The Good, The Bad, and The Duke is a well-written, captivating, and enjoyable holiday romance.

The Bride Who Got Lucky by Janna MacGregor–5 Stars–Book Review

The Bride who go lucky:850.jpg

Don’t Miss Janna MacGregor’s Newest 5-Star Release, Coming 10/31/17!

I thoroughly enjoyed this well-written historical fiction romance. This novel explores the harsh realities of what it was like for a woman in the 1700s to be trapped in an abusive marriage. Women during this time had very few rights, and when they married, they lost what little rights they had. Emma felt guilty over her friend Lena’s death. She knew that Lena’s husband had abused her. Unfortunately, the last time Lena had asked Emma for help, she’d been busy. Lena died that night, and Emma has been shackled with guilt ever since.

Emma was convinced that Lena’s husband had murdered her friend. She tried to persuade Lena’s maid, Mary to testify against the cruel man. But since husbands held all of the rights in a marriage, people, including Mary, turned their back on Emma’s request for help; even Nick, her own husband. Emma was determined to have her life count for something. She wanted to help abused women escape their harsh fate. She was determined to help them have choices, and to even start a new life, if necessary. Emma loved her husband and hated crossing him, but avenging Lena’s death, was just too important to her, to let go.

Little did Emma know, though, that Nick was also, doing some soul searching. Forgiveness would not come easy for him, but forgiving was exactly what Nick needed to do, to heal his heart. Would Nick go against everything he based his life on, and forgive? He didn’t think that was possible, but neither was living without Emma. This was just the type of heartache Nick had always tried to guard against.

This well-written book is captivating, touching, as well as, heart-wrenching. The Bride Who Got Lucky is a story well told. I loved it.

The Bad Luck Bride by Janna MacGregor

the bad luck bride

Janna MacGregor’s Newest Historical Fiction Release, Coming 5/2/17.

The Bad Luck Bride.

Lady Claire was convinced that she’d been cursed. Whenever she became betrothed, the man she loved would end up dead, maimed or would leave before he married her. That was until Lady Claire met Alex, Marquess of Pembroke. To save Alex from the curse, Lady Claire struggled against falling in love with him, but her traitorous heart fell for the handsome Marquess, anyway. He made her feel alive, beautiful, and most of all, not cursed. Alex was able to squash the Ton’s gossip about Lady Claire, and he wasn’t afraid to marry her. Was it too good to be true? Apparently.

Alex never meant to hurt Lady Claire; truly he didn’t. But hurt her, he did.

The Bad Luck Bride is a fun and entertaining read. Thank you, St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy.
