#Last Summer by Kerry Lonsdale–Review–5 Stars–#NetGalley

Last Summer new 2 850.jpgDon’t Miss Kerry Lonsdale’s Newest Brilliant Release–Coming 7/9/19!

Last Summer is a superbly written, thought-provoking fast-paced novel.

Ella Skye was an ambitious journalist. Landing high profile exclusive stories was always an important goal of hers.  However, when Ella was asked to interview for the second time TV star, Nathan Donovan, Ella was nervous. Because, unfortunately, she didn’t remember Nathan at all; even though, she apparently, had spent two weeks with him. The doctors told Ella her memory loss was selective. So, what happened, during those two weeks, that was so terrible that she needed to block it out?

Ever since Ella’s car accident, her husband, Damien, has been distant. She knew that he was mourning the death of their unborn son. Ella would be grieving too if only she could remember him. What kind of mother forgets being 21 weeks pregnant? Ella was desperate for answers.

Damien had pleaded with Ella not to interview Nathan Donovan. But Ella had never backed down from a story, and she wasn’t about to start now. Besides, Nathan may hold the key to Ella’s memories.  If only Damien would talk about their lost son and help Ella remember. But Damien had shut Ella out, so against his wishes, Ella boarded the plane.

Last Summer, is crafted with brilliant twists, complex characters, betrayals, and romance. I was captivated from the first page until the last—five stars from this reader.

Don’t Miss Kerry Lonsdale Newest Outstanding Novel! Everything We Give–Coming 7/3/18

Everything We Give is the third novel in Kerry Lonsdale’s Everything Series. Although each one of these books, can be read as a standalone, they are much more enjoyable, clearer, and richer, if they are read in order. Each novel builds upon the one prior. The first book is Aimee’s story, the second, James’s, and the third, Ian’s. I loved every book in this series, but I think book three is my favorite.

Aimee was content. She had a wonderful husband, Ian, a successful business, and a beautiful daughter. Aimee thought she had moved on from her ex-fiancee, James, the man she thought was dead, but found out, was alive; living in Mexico, under the name of Carlos. When James showed up in her life again, Aimee’s unresolved buried emotions, surfaced.

Ian is a professional photographer, and one of his dreams was about to come true. National Geographic was interested in his work. Ian wanted his wife, Aimee, to be the first to know about it. Aimee, however, was nowhere to be found. She was with James. Ian was afraid of losing his wife; every woman he’s ever loved has left him, including his own mother. His mother didn’t want him in her life anymore, or at least, that’s what his father told him. But, circumstances and people aren’t always what they first appear to be.

Ian’s childhood was lonely and heartbreaking. He was an only child of a mentally ill mother and a traveling workaholic father. Ian’s mother suffered from Dissociative Identity Disorder. Ian felt responsible for his mother’s safety against her most dangerous alter personality, Jackie. When Jackie’s behavior finally landed Ian’s mom in jail, Ian blamed himself. He was led to believe that he was the cause of his mother’s worsening mental illness. Ian lived under a heavy weight of guilt for many years until he finally discovered the truth.

Book three, Everything We Give is an engaging well-written novel, with developed and colorful characters, natural dialogue and an emotional but satisfying ending to the series. I read the book in one day because I couldn’t put it down. I absolutely loved this book. It’s bittersweet, heart-wrenching, touching, and thought-provoking.

Everything We Left Behind by Kerry Lonsdale

everything we left behind....:800...jpg

Don’t Miss Kerry Lonsdale’s newest Romantic Suspense Novel.

Everything We Left Behind, Coming 7/4/17

Everything We Left Behind is a fascinating story that captivated my attention from the very start.

For six years, after surviving an attempt on his life, James Donato from California lived in a dissociative fugue state. His brother, Thomas, assisted him in starting a new life. He set James up with a new identity, as Carlos Dominguez, an artist living in Mexico. Carlos, having no memory of his prior life as James, and no recollection of Aimee, the love of his life, married a Mexican woman. Although Carlos is now widowed, he’s content living with his two sons in Mexico; that was, though, until, Aimee showed up in his life, cracking his dissociative fugue state.

Carlos’s world comes apart when he learns that he is James Donato, a man from a crooked, untrustworthy family. Carlos is petrified for his family’s safety. James will have no memory of his life in Mexico, his children or Natalya. Carlos’s real fear, however, is what the Donato family will do to his sons. The family member who tried to kill him is due out of jail, soon. If James doesn’t know that he has sons, how will he protect them?

Carlos knows that his time is running out. The increase in vivid dreams and headaches are positive indicators that his true identity is trying to break through. So, Carlos starts to write his life down in excruciating detail for James. Carlos desperately wants James to know just how much Natalya and his sons mean to him.

Everything We Left Behind is about a man searching for who he is, letting go of what is no longer his, and finding acceptance and happiness in life once again. The story is told from both James and Carlos’s point of view. I was so engrossed in the character’s lives that I couldn’t put the book down. I loved everything about this novel and highly recommend giving it a read.

Thank you, Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy. I loved it!
