Don’t Miss Sophie Kinsella’s Newest, Funny Release.

Surprise Me-Coming 2/13/18!

Surprise Me is a funny well-written novel with quirky characters, witty dialogue and a unique plot. I’ve read several of Sophie Kinsella’s books, and she never fails to spin a funny tale. Although her books are a little over-the-top, as well as her latest one, Surprise Me, they always make me laugh. The first half of this book is a bit silly, but the second half is anything but; it’s emotional, character-driven, and utterly absorbing.

Sylvie and Dan have a comfortable home, a loving marriage, and twin five-year-old girls. However, after their GP mentioned that they could live long enough to be married for another sixty-eight years, Dan and Sylvie began to panic. Neither one of them could fathom being married to the same person for that length of time. So the two of them started to brainstorm ideas to spice of their marriage and keep it fresh, for their long-expected years together. The two decide that surprising one another with exciting adventures, loving gestures, and romantic outings, was the way to go. The problem was, though, that sometimes, surprises don’t have the expected positive outcome that a person is looking for; something Dan and Sylvie, unfortunately, discovered for themselves.

Sylvie thought she knew her husband thoroughly, but to her surprise, she learned that there was a lot that she didn’t know about Dan. When family secrets were on the verge of being exposed, Sylvie and Dan became stressed to the max. Marriage isn’t always easy, as most couples find out, but then again, nothing worthwhile and precious usually is. Loving someone is looking for the good in that person, and never losing sight of what they mean to you.

Surprise Me is a well-written and thoroughly enjoyable read. Thank you, Dial Press and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy. I loved it!

*My Not So Perfect Life* by Sophie Kinsella* 5-Stars

Sophie Kinsella’s Newest Release.

Very Funny! Don’t Miss It!

Country farm girl, Katie Brenner has dreamt of working in London, for years. So when Cooper Clemmow, a London branding, and strategy company, called to offer Katie an entry level position, she was ecstatic. She decided to reinvent herself. Katie lost her Somerset country accent, straightened her hair, bought a pair of fake eyeglasses and changed her nickname from Katie to Cat. And even though, Cat had to share her flat, sleep in a closet-size bedroom, and work with a rude, evil boss, she was happy; until she was fired.

Having no choice but to move back home, Katie volunteered to help her father, and step-mother launch, Ansters Farm Country Retreat, a Glamping business. Katie was just beginning, to enjoy her work, when her ex-boss showed up, with her family, for a vacation. Needless to say, Katie was beside herself. I found Katie’s revenge on her old boss, hysterical. Sophie Kinsella knows how to write hilarious inner dialogue and crazy funny scenes.

Katie learned some lessons in this book; 1. People are not always who they appear to be and 2. No one has a perfect life. My Not So Perfect Life is an easy-breezy, well-written, humorous book, with lots of likable characters, and witty dialogue. Be prepared to laugh, a lot. Highly recommended.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this advanced review copy. I loved it!

*Can You Keep a Secret?* by Sophie Kinsella*5-Shining Stars*

Can you keep a secret

I’m a big fan of Sophie Kinsella. I love her humorous, easy to read writing style. Can you Keep a Secret? is a laugh out loud, hysterical romance novel.

Emma Corrigan was petrified when her plane hit heavy turbulence; she was convinced that she was about to die. While the passengers behind her were weeping and reciting prayers out loud, Emma began to blab to the man sitting next to her, every dirty secret that she had. When the plane didn’t crash, Emma was immensely grateful that she was going to be able to continue her mundane life in one piece.

At Emma’s work everyone was in a tizzy because Jack Harper, the American founder of the company, was coming to visit. When Emma saw who the owner was, she nearly fainted. He was the same man who had sat next to her on the plane. Emma was hoping against hope that he wouldn’t recognize her. But of course, Jack Harper did. He also remembered every single embarrassing little secret that Emma had told him.

Sophie Kinsella does a brilliant job taking an innocent meeting of two people on a plane and turning it into a hilarious story. Although this is not one of the author’s newest books, it’s one of my favorites. If you have not read this book yet, you’re in for a treat. You’re going to laugh out loud…a lot.
